Reconciliation

Our Christian life is an ongoing journey. On this journey we often wander off course. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we celebrate God’s mercy and God’s willingness to forgive us for our sins and failures to live as children of God. The Sacrament of Reconciliation recognizes our honest acknowledgement of our need for God’s mercy and our desire for ongoing conversion.

1st Reconciliation for Children

First Reconciliation is received in Grade 2 prior to First Eucharist.

–The sacrament is received on a Sunday morning, usually in the Spring.

–The children are prepared as part of their Religious Education classes.

–In the family, children learn attitudes of forgiveness and sin and experience God’s love and forgiveness through the love of their parents and families. Parental participation and involvement is essential for our children to understand this Sacrament.

–In years following First Reconciliation, children will receive annual preparation for this sacrament as is appropriate to their maturity.

Individual Reconciliation

Individual Reconciliation is  available by making an appointment with a priest as needed.

Parish Communal Reconciliation Services

Form 2 of the Rite of Penance is celebrated communally in Lent.

–The assembly gathers for Scripture, Reflection, Examination of Conscience and Song, and then come forward individually to the priest to confess their sins.

–Watch the bulletin for more information.
